Bicycle Safety Training

Description

The course will cover state and local laws pertaining to bicyclists, accident avoidance including common situations where accidents occur on roadways and how to avoid them. It will also include bicycling tips, bicycle maintenance info, and the proper use and sizing of helmets. A Quiz is included at the end of this course.

Objective

To promote Bicycle Safety and educate individuals on Local Traffic Laws around the Yale Campus / City of New Haven

Hello cyclists!!

Roll on over to Elm City Cycling’s Bike to Work Day breakfast this Friday, April 15, from 7:30-9:30 a.m.

Free to pedestrian and cycling commuters. It’s at Pitkin Plaza, in front of the Devil’s Gear Bike Shop, 151 Orange St., New Haven.

Learn about best bike routes and help build New Haven’s cycling community. Food and coffee by Bru. Sponsored this month by the American Diabetes Association, which will be providing free registration to its Tour de Cure bike ride in June.

“With thousands of active cyclists on city streets, New Haven is working hard to be a bike-friendly community for cyclists of all ages and skill levels. In response to the growing number of cyclists on the streets and trails, the Smart Cycling Handbook was developed by the City of New Haven’s Street Smarts campaign, in partnership with bicycling advocates, law enforcement officials and local leaders. All contributors had one common goal: to encourage cycling in New Haven while promoting safety and traffic education.”
